path to the site.
Ritamäki is also one of the stops along the 8.2km-long 'Seven-torpsleden' (a 'torp' is a
croft or homestead), a pretty walking trail that makes a loop among several of the
homesteads in the Finn Forest. Ask for a map at the Finnskogscentrum .

The ingeniously designed Forest Centre, opened in June 2014 near Lekvattnet as part of
Värmlands County Museum, covers the 17th-century Finnish settlement of the area, with
displays on smokehouses, hunting, music, witchcraft and the settlers' trademark 'slash and
burn' style of cultivating grain. (They planted rye in the ashes of burnt trees.) There's also
a research library and a cafe. The centre is on the E16 road, 22km from Torsby, across
from a small convenience shop.

Hembygdsgården Kollsberg, down beside Fryken lake, is a dinky homestead museum with
several old houses, including a Finnish cabin. A cafe serves coffee and waffles (Skr40) and
the traditional Finnish settlers' dish motti och fläsk (oat porridge with pork, Skr80).

At the edge of Torsby's town centre, the Fordonsmuseum will appeal to motorheads with
its collection of rare and vintage cars, motorcycles and fire engines.
