With a focus on conservation and sustainable development more than tourism, the founda-
tion manages the nature reserves within the archipelago. It owns and oversees a number of
hostels and historic sites throughout the islands.

This new waterside information centre in Stockholm can advise on (and book) various
types of archipelago accommodation and tours, as well as give you ideas on what to see
and do.

Waxholmsbolaget is the main provider of public transportation in the archipelago. It also
operates tours on beautiful antique steamboats; check schedules online. Timetables and in-
formation are available from the office outside the Grand Hôtel on Strömkajen, at the har-
bour in Vaxholm and online. The company also runs ferries to and from Djurgården in
summer (SL passes are valid).
Thousand Island Cruise BOAT TOUR

Strömma Kanalbolaget operates boats to and from various islands in the archipelago, as
well as themed tours. If time is short, consider the Thousand Island Cruise (daily July to
