An old-school Hammarby football-fan hang-out, Kvarnen is one of the best bars in Söder.
The gorgeous beer hall dates from 1907 and seeps tradition; if you're not the clubbing
type, get here early for a nice pint and a meal (mains Skr139 to Skr195). As the night pro-
gresses, the nightclub vibe takes over. Queues are fairly constant but justifiable.

The name says it all: this dark basement bar is bloodsucker-themed all the way through.
There are perspex 'windows' in the floor showing buried caches of anti-vamp supplies
such as holy water, crosses and garlic - just in case. Locals recommend the ice-cream
cocktails. The lounge shares an entrance with
Östgöta Källaren
restaurant.

In an old sausage factory, this kicking Söder playpen draws a boho-chic crowd. The
designer-grunge bar (think chequered floor and subway-style tiled columns) serves killer
cocktails, while the sweaty basement hosts club nights on the weekend. Its known for its
monthly 'Bangers & Mash' Britpop night; check online for dates.

This cavernous brewpub has an epic beer list, including 56 taps, many of which are made
here or at the Monks microbrewery in Vasastan. Everything we tried was delicious, espe-
cially the Monks Orange Ale - your best bet is to ask the bartender for a recommendation
(or a taste). Check online for beer-tasting events.
