This designer darling feels like a modern-art museum, its wide ramp leading into the foyer
dotted with ubercool furniture and modelled on the Tate Modern. Standard rooms are com-
pact but uncluttered and ultramodern, with 'deluxe' options and suites available for those
wanting more space. The several bars and restaurants are their own draw.
The foyer features a huge wall mural and sculptures by Kirsten Ortwed, as well as funky
lighting fixtures and fish-scale tiles at the front desk. There's a gym and sauna, as well as a
spa where you can book ayurvedic treatments.

This great little apartment has a cosy, polished-floorboard bedroom (maximum two
guests), a modern bathroom and a kitchen (with its own espresso machine). Note that
there's no lift; you'll be climbing four flights of stairs. There's a two-night minimum stay,
and the place is a huge hit, so book months ahead. Breakfast is served in the owners' apart-
ment next door.
