In-Depth Information
Gamla Stan
Ideal for romantics, though generally pricier than other parts of the city, Stockholm's me-
dieval nexus has several atmospheric hotels that put you in easy reach of other neighbour-
hoods.

This small, quiet, family-run hostel has a fantastic location and a friendly vibe. Rooms are
on the basement level, slightly cavelike but pretty and well kept (and there are windows).
Shared bathrooms are down the hall. Breakfast isn't available, but there's a guest kitchen
and dining area by the reception upstairs. Dorms (six- and eight-bed rooms with bunks)
are mixed.

HOTEL

Stockholm's oldest hotel once hummed with sailors. These days the impressive waterfront
building draws passersby with a slinky restaurant-bar. Some rooms have exposed brick
walls, others are light and open in classic Scandi style; several have French doors with sea
views. There's also a gym in the 16th-century vault-ceilinged basement, as well as a
candlelit plunge pool and spa.
Lady Hamilton Hotel HOTEL

Skr1050/1550; ; Gamla Stan)
Expect old-style luxury (with modern touches where it counts, such as in the bathrooms).
The building dates back to the 1470s, and is packed with antiques and portraits of Lady
Hamilton herself. If you're not a fan of church bells, request a room away from St-
orkyrkobrinken.
