The main city library is just north of the city centre. Designed by architect Erik Gunnar
Asplund and sporting a curvaceous, technicolor reading room, it's the finest example of
Stockholm's 1920s neoclassicist style.

This ambitious gallery keeps culture fiends busy with a fresh dose of international contem-
porary art, as well as a reading room, a fab cafe and a busy schedule of art seminars and
artists-in-conversation sessions. The massive, transparent flat-iron building was designed
by Johan Celsing. There are discussions about the exhibitions in English at 1pm, 3pm,
5pm and 7pm Wednesdays, and 1pm and 4pm Thursday to Sunday. Sunday at 2pm there
are free guided tours by the museum's curators.
Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum MUSEUM

This slick new building houses an art gallery with interesting temporary exhibitions (re-
cently a survey of Swedish fashion from 2000 to 2010), as well as a re-creation of the
former Lidingö home of owner and art collector Sven-Harry Karlsson. Access to the home
is by guided tour (Skr150, 40 minutes, currently in Swedish only). There's also an award-
winning restaurant with terrace seating facing the park.
