The project poses some interesting problems and has a solution that lies somewhere
between 2D and 3D. Figure 11.33 shows the starting point. The two-dimensional image
represents a projection of a three-dimensional space. The Stage is shown in the center,
and the idea is to be able to pan the image left and right within the Stage area much
like a panorama. As we pan, we want to move in such a way that we have a sense of
a three-dimensional space through the movement of the individual layers.

To create the desired motion, each layer was constructed to be the same size as the
background layer. Figure 11.34 shows the background layer and one of the topmost
