In-Depth Information
Frame 3 holds the game engine. It consists of an asteroid movie clip instance located
just above the Stage. This instance will be duplicated many times to create the targets
for the game. A target crosshair instance is located in the center of the Stage. This will
follow the cursor's movement. Two laser movie clip instances are on either side of the
Stage. They will animate towards the crosshair when the user presses the mouse but-
ton (Figure 11.4). Let's take a closer look at the asteroid movie clip.
Figure 11.4 Space Blaster game components are on frame 3.
The asteroid was modeled and textured in CINEMA 4D. As discussed in Chapter 10, the
3D model was rendered and saved as a PNG file to maintain the alpha channel. Double-
click on the asteroid to open its Timeline. This movie clip contains a frame-by-frame
animation of the asteroid exploding.
The images that make up the explosion were created using Adobe After Effects. This
software allows you to composite visual effects with digital video. After Effects was used
to export footage of an explosion into a PNG sequence. Five frames from that sequence
were imported into Flash. These images were placed one frame after another to create
the animation of the asteroid blowing up when hit by the lasers (Figure 11.5).
