Figure 8.8 Center the image on the Stage
Step 2: Create a movie clip
With the image selected, choose Modify > Convert to Symbol. Create a movie clip
named panoMC . Set its registration point to be at the center of the image and click OK.
Double-click on the image to edit the movie clip.
Choose Modify > Transform > Scale and Rotate. Set the scale factor to be 12.5% (1/8
scale) and then click OK. Set the Stage display size to be 50%. Because the image is so
large, reducing the scale causes fewer problems in Flash. We will later scale back up to
normal size.
Step 3: Create a duplicate
Even though we have a panorama image that spans a full 360-degree range, in order
to pan continuously we need to duplicate at least part of the image. The question is how
much? With either a little experimentation or some math, or blind luck, you will eventu-
ally discover that you need a minimum amount equal to the width of the Stage. The
easiest way to do this in Flash is to create a copy of the image.
Select the image. In the Properties window, set its x-location to be at -672 so that the
right side of the clip is at the registration point. Hold down the Option and Shift keys
