Summary
This chapter focused on movement to enhance depth perception. Key concepts to
remember include the following:
• Parallax scrolling is caused by two factors. One is your viewing posi -
tion or vantage point, and the other is the relative distance the
objects are from you.
• Objects closer to us will appear to travel farther and move more
quickly than objects farther away.
• The most basic animation method is called frame-by-frame anima-
tion. Each frame is manually changed by you over a certain period
of time.
• Keyframes signify change.
• Moving the camera across the screen horizontally or vertically is
called panning .
• Trucking is another cinematography term that describes a camera's
movement. A camera moving inwards from a wide shot to a close-up
shot is referred to as a truck in . The opposite movement is referred
to as a truck out .
The next chapter expands on the animation concepts from this chapter using
ActionScript, Flash's programming language.
