A series of fans and dampers are controlled by a central control system to
optimally divert heated air in order to maximize its usefulness, as shown in
Figure 7.8 . If the outlet air is determined to be not useful (i.e., it is too cold
or there is no demand for thermal energy), the main BIPV/T fan is turned
off. Otherwise, it is powered to achieve between 40 and 80% of the rated
airflow. A detailed explanation of the controls is described by Doiron (2011).
