In-Depth Information
The percentage of correct label attribution is reported in Table 3
for American English and Italian subjects tested on American English
emotional stimuli (audio, video, and combined audio/video) and in
Table 4 for American English and Italian subjects tested on Italian
emotional stimuli (audio, video, and combined audio/video).
The data were assessed statistically using an ANOVA with
condition (audio alone, mute video, and combined audio/video) as a
between-subject variable, and the emotion categories (the six under
examination) as a within-subject variable.
Different ANOVAs were performed separately for each set of
stimuli (American and Italian movies) and for each subject's country
(America and Italy, Esposito, 2007, 2009; Esposito and Riviello, 2011).
Results showed that conditions (audio, mute video, and combined
audio/video) always played a significant role for the subject's correct
label attribution to the stimuli. However, significance was different
