In-Depth Information
BEMP, another fact probably helped enforce our management regime: It is always useful
to be holding the purse strings.
Before we continue, it is time for a quick pause to clarify two terms. Think about
hazard as referring to an inherent property of a substance or activity to cause harm. For
example, drinking too much alcohol will lead to liver damage and ultimately kill me.
However, the key phrase in this sentence is “too much” - in other words, the size of the
dose. The word risk expresses the idea of the probability of an unwanted biological/health
impact (such as liver damage) resulting from a given dose of a hazardous substance (such
as alcohol).
