Plate 77 Calpionellids
Calpionellids are very small bell-shaped, amphora-like or cylindrical microfossils restricted to Late Jurassic to
lower Early Cretaceous pelagic limestones. The plate displays longitudinal sections of taxa used in the standard
biochronology of the Jurassic-Cretaceous time interval (see Fig. 10.32).

Chitinoidella boneti
Doben. The test has a microgranular calcitic wall and appears dark in transmitted light due to an
ultrastructure that differs from almost all other calpionellids (collected in the family Calpionellidae). Middle Tithonian:
