RAIL PASSES
It may be hard to get your money's worth on a rail pass if you're travelling most of the
time in tiny Denmark, although a pass may make sense if you're visiting other countries
as well.
There's a dizzying variety of passes, depending on where you reside and where you're
going to travel. In addition to the websites listed below, details about rail passes can be
found at

. And remember, if you buy a rail pass, read the small print.
Note: prices depend on age and class of travel. There are cheaper rates for children
(aged four to 11), youths (12 to 25 years) and seniors (over 60).
Supplements (eg for high-speed services, night trains, seat reservations) are not
covered by passes.
EURAIL PASSES
Eurail passes (
www.eurail.com
)
are for residents of non-European countries, and can only
be bought outside Europe. They are available from larger travel agencies and online.
There are a variety of passes available, including the following:
Global Pass
Covers 23 European countries (not including the UK), and can be pur-
chased for a range of durations, including 10 or 15 days within a two-month period, 15
or 21 consecutive days, or for one, two or three months. Prices vary; unlimited travel for
one month costs adult/youth €595/913 (Note: this pass is much better value for un-
der-26s. If you're older than 26, you have to buy a 1st-class pass.)
One Country Pass
Covers only one country (ie Denmark) and is valid for three or sev-
en days during a one-month period. Price for an adult travelling in 2nd class for three/
seven days €111/152.
Other Eurail passes to consider include the
Select Pass
(covers three to five bordering
countries),
Two-country regional pass
(covering Denmark and Sweden, or Denmark
and Germany) and the
Scandinavia Rail Pass
(valid for Norway, Sweden, Finland and
Denmark).
INTERRAIL PASSES
InterRail passes (

)
are available only to European residents and can be
purchased from most major train stations, student travel outlets and online.
