Accommodation
High standards of comfort and convenience are the norm in Denmark whether you're
camping, hostelling or staying in a guesthouse or hotel, although nothing is particularly
cheap.
Campgrounds, hostels and B&B accommodation generally offer an excellent standard of
accommodation and are good ways to secure comfort on a budget.
Self-catering apartments, cottages and summerhouses make appealing and cost-effect-
ive alternatives for families and groups planning to stay in one place for a while.
Airbnb ( www.airbnb.com ) is a great resource for private rooms, apartments, cottages and
houses all over the country.
Staff at local tourist offices can provide lists of local accommodation and may be able to
arrange bookings. Fees may apply.
During July and August it's advisable to book ahead. Even campgrounds can fill up.
Many hotels, hostels and restaurants are also members of the Green Key eco accredita-
tion scheme ( www.green-key.org ) , in which they aim to cut their use of energy, chemicals
and use of nonrenewable resources.
We list prices for the summer high season (generally June to August). From September
to May, many guesthouses and hotels offer substantial discounts on these rates - web-
sites list up-to-date rates.
There is no hard-and-fast rule about the inclusion of breakfast in prices - many hotels in-
clude it in their price, but for others it is optional. It is never included in the price of hos-
tels and budget hotels, and ironically it is usually not included in B&B rates.
