AALBORG CARD
If you're in town for a couple of days, the Aalborg Card may be worth considering - it
gives free entry to many of the sights, plus free parking (at Kennedy Arkaden, southeast
of the train station) and free use of public transport. A 48-hour pass costs Dkr225. It's
particularly worthwhile if you plan to visit expensive sights such as the zoo; buy it from
the tourist office.
Festivals & Events
Aalborg Carnival CULTURAL
Each year in late May, Aalborg kicks up its heels hosting this week-long festival (the
biggest Carnival celebrations in northern Europe), when up to 100,000 participants and
spectators shake their maracas and paint the town red.
Sleeping
If only the sleeping options matched the quality of the eating choices! With few excep-
tions, Aalborg's hotel scene is lacklustre.
The tourist office has details of budget-priced rooms in private homes.

The cheap, reliable CabInn chain added Aalborg to its portfolio with this large, central
hotel across the road from the Utzon Center and neighbouring the Friis shopping centre.
All 239 rooms have TV and bathrooms, but there's little room for cat-swinging in the
cheaper rooms. Breakfast costs Dkr70.
