Oasen is an inviting complex of central rooms and apartments, nicely bridging the gap
between hostels and business hotels. Some rooms have shared bathroom, but all have
cable TV and free wi-fi, plus kitchen access. Breakfast (Dkr75) is taken in a sweet little
'cafe' in the garden.
Niels Bugges Hotel
BOUTIQUE HOTEL
( 86 63 80 11; www.nielsbuggeskro.dk ; Egeskovvej 26, Hald Ege; d Dkr1250-1450, without bathroom
Dkr790; )
This old inn, set amid forest on the outskirts of town, is a destination hotel where design
and gastronomy are taken seriously and the result is something special. Rooms epitomise
farmhouse chic, all florals, patchworks and antiques. Add a library, romantic grounds and
wonderful New Nordic-inspired restaurant, Skov (meaning 'forest'), and you too will be
dreading checkout.
Skov has a great seafood buffet on Friday nights, year-round, (Dkr348; reservations re-
quired). The hotel's owners also have the nearby Niels Bugges Kro in lakeside Dollerup.
The kro houses a more traditional restaurant (open noon-9pm daily) and offers row-boat
rental, plus there's an annexe in the countryside with yet more idyllic accommodation.
To reach the hotel from Viborg, take Rte 13 south then follow signs for 'Hald Ege'. Bus
53 runs out this way.
Café Morville INTERNATIONAL

10am-10pm Mon &
Tue, to 11pm Wed & Thu, to 1am Fri & Sat, 11am-5pm Sun; )
One of those chic all-day cafes that seem compulsory in Danish towns. You can park your-
self on the leather banquettes for a mid-morning coffee or late-night drink and everything
in between.
