Randers' most-visited attraction is this dome-enclosed tropical zoo ( 'regnskov' means rain-
forest), where the temperature is always a humid 20°C to 30°C (dress accordingly). Trails
within the sultry domes pass through impressive enclosures housing crocodiles, monkeys,
pythons, iguanas, orchids, hibiscus and other rainforest flora and fauna. The South Amer-
ican dome is a standout (the others represent Africa and Asia), as waterfalls and an abund-
ance of wildlife engulf you. Closing times vary, from 4pm to 6pm (check the website).
Graceland Randers MUSEUM, ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX
( www.elvispresley.dk ; Graceland Randers Vej 3; museum adult/child Dkr99/69; 10am-9pm)
Two kilometres southeast of Randers' town centre is the Elvis Presley Museum , housed in
a replica Graceland mansion (double the size of the original) that opened in 2011. True,
you don't expect to find a shrine to the King in regional Denmark, but one mad-keen local
fan has proved his dedication in building this showcase for his personal collection of mem-
orabilia. Inside the kitschy complex there's also a well-stocked Elvis shop, American diner
and mini movie theatre. Thankyouverymuch.

HISTORIC NEIGHBOURHOOD
The most interesting part of Randers is its central area, a hotchpotch of architecture with
some antique gems alongside more-modern eyesores. Hunt down the pearls, and the stor-
ies behind them, with the Star Route brochure, free from the tourist office. It outlines a
self-guided tour around town, highlighting the likes of the late-15th-century Paaskesøn-
nernes Gård ( GOOGLE MAP ; Rådhustorvet 7) ; Helligåndshuset ( GOOGLE MAP ; Eric Men-
veds Plads) , once part of a medieval monastery; and the imposing red medieval Sankt
Mortens Kirke (
; Kirketorvet) .

Sleeping
There's not a great deal of accommodation in town; many families visit Randers Regnskov
from nearby holiday hotspots such as Djursland.
