In-Depth Information
Aarhus is connected by bus with the large airport at Billund, about 100km southwest and a
two-hour bus ride away (Dkr160). Buses 912X and 913X depart from the Aarhus bus sta-
tion.
It's quicker to take a frequent train to Vejle, where there are plenty of buses to the air-
port.
BICYCLE
Free Aarhusbycykel ( www.aarhusbycykel.dk ) city bikes are available from locations around
the city from April to October (download a map from the website, or ask at your accom-
modation). There are a few bikes close to the Subway store opposite the train station, and
some outside the town hall. You need to put a Dkr20 coin into the slot to obtain the bike
(refunded when you return it).
If you're visiting from November to March, or you want a better-quality bike for a
lengthy period, Bikes 4 Rent ( GOOGLE MAP ; 20 26 10 20; www.bikes4rent.dk ; per day/
week Dkr95/250) can help. Staff deliver bikes to a central city location (the Radisson hotel
by Musikhuset).
ON YOUR BIKE
OK, so you've found yourself a bycykeland are looking to explore. Good two-wheeled
trips:
South to Marselisborg , taking in the palace and park. Stop off to refuel at the marina en
route.
North to check out the green campus of Aarhus University .
Further north to Risskov , to explore the pretty woodlands and beach.
Aarhus Ø and the northern harbourside developments, full of impressive architectural
designs (the 'Iceberg' complex is a head-turner).
BUS
Aarhus has an extensive, efficient local bus network. Most in-town (yellow) buses stop
close to the train station on Park Allé. Buy your ticket from the on-board machine (Dkr20,
allowing up to two hours' travel). Information on tickets, routes and schedules is available
from the bus station on Fredensgade, via the website www.midttrafik.dk (good info in
English) or by dialling 70 21 02 30.
