At the end of Uldgade, this cafe has a simple, streamlined interior, pretty outdoor seating,
good coffee and a small but tempting menu (cutely hand-drawn) of sandwiches (try one
with salmon and homemade tzatziki).

Options around Torvet include Kloster Caféen, in Tønder's oldest house (from 1520 and
boasting beautiful old tiles). The square is also home to a photogenic market selling fruit,
vegetables and cheese on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Victoria
INTERNATIONAL
( www.victoriatoender.dk ; Storgade 9; mains Dkr65-199;
11am-10pm Mon-Thu, to 4am Fri, 2am Sat,
noon-10pm Sun)
At the turn of the 19th century, Tønder had a world-beating one bar for every 49 inhabit-
ants. Only the Victoria kicks on now as a jack-of-all-trades pub/cafe/restaurant. It's a win-
ner, with an all-ages crowd, old-world timber-rich decor and a good range of international
and local beers. The menu is long, varied (burgers, burritos, pasta, sandwiches) and well
priced.
