The vast majority of accommodation is found in some 1600 summerhouses and apartments
scattered around the island, which are usually rented by the week in the high season (out-
side this period there's often a three-night minimum). Prices vary, depending on the season
and the degree of luxury. The tourist office can provide a catalogue and also handle book-
ings.

A picturesque red, thatched-roof complex (another old sea-captain's house) that's well hid-
den off the main road and set among pines, but walking distance to a supermarket and
bakery. The rooms (a few with bathroom) are basic but spick-and-span, and the outdoor
areas beckon for a complete holiday wind-down.
Lakolk Strand Camping

In high summer, the beachside campground and shopping centre at Lakolk is holiday heav-
en or hell, depending on your outlook. It's bursting at the seams with families praying for
good weather; the huge campground is wall-to-wall with campervans and all the requisite
facilities, including rental of on-site caravans and cabins.

This astonishingly big complex has everything from camping and cabins to hotel rooms
and apartments, and a restaurant and bar. Plus there are activities laid on thick, including a
wellness centre, bike hire, kayaking, horse riding, kids' play centre, and indoor and out-
door swimming pools.
