The Old Merchant's Court is a hub for local produce - an indoor farmers market selling
fine local produce (bread, beer, salami, ice cream, honey, chocolate). Stop in for coffee,
cake and a tastebud-tempting browse.

This cafe's interior is the essence of hyggelig (cosy): film posters, old cinema seats, a
battered sofa, even a barber's chair - but on warm summer evenings, the outdoor terrace is
in hot demand. There's a good all-day menu where local produce shines - try fish (of
course) or the gourmet hotdog, then follow with delicious homemade ice cream.
Above the cafe, Hotel Aroma offers outstanding rooms and apartments (double from
Dkr695), stylish and colourful with plenty of character.

Well worth a cycling excursion is the island's wee microbrewery, pumping out delicious
brews including stout, pilsner, India pale ale and dark ale. Its bock-style walnut beer
comes highly recommended. You can sample Rise beer throughout the island, or you can
drop in to visit its shop and dine rustically in its idyllic garden.
Find it signposted just off the main road in the hamlet of Store Rise, about 7km south of
Ærøskøbing.
