Romeo and Juliet. Facing separation, the tragic lovers committed suicide in 1889. They are
buried together on Tåsinge in the churchyard at Landet, 3km south of Bregninge, where
brides still throw bouquets on their grave.

This well-kept seaside facility is the closest camping ground to Svendborg (there are also
cottages for hire - weekly only in peak summer). It's at the northern tip of Tåsinge, about
2km northeast of the Svendborg bridge, and it's super scenic and family-friendly. The ferry

docks out front; you can hire bicycles, kayaks and motorboats.

Perched above the harbour, Hotel Troense has rooms divided between the main building
(with sea views) and modern blocks at the back (with private seating areas in the garden).
Rooms are quite plain but the setting is lovely. The dated decor of the restaurant could al-
most be retro - the food is also classic Danish fare. The restaurant is open noon to 9pm
April to October, for dinner Monday to Saturday the rest of the year.
Getting There & Away
Route 9 connects Tåsinge with Svendborg on Funen, and Rudkøbing on Langeland. There
are cycle paths running the entire way.
Buses run from Svendborg to Tåsinge (route 250), but the bus stops 1km short of the
castle - and the vintage ferry
M/S Helge
is much more fun.
