In-Depth Information

From mid-May to mid-September, the vintage vessel Helge sails three or four times daily
on a schedule that makes five stops in the area, at Svendborg Sund camping ground on the
northern tip of Tåsinge, then at Christiansminde, a popular beach area east of Svendborg,
before continuing to Troense and Valdemars Slot on Tåsinge. It turns around at Valdemars
Slot to retrace its steps back to Svendborg harbour.
The boat leaves Svendborg harbour at 10am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm from mid-May to
mid-September (with an additional sailing at 4.30pm in July); the total sailing time to the
final stop is 55 minutes. You can use it as a long sightseeing tour (Dkr60 one way), or a
short-hop transport option (riding two stops for Dkr30).

Svendborg and its surrounds have good, inexpensive B&Bs, many of which are listed in
the Funen and the Islands B&B brochure (found in tourist offices across Funen and online
at www.bed-breakfast-fyn.dk ) .
The nearest camping ground is on Tåsinge , on the southern side of Svendborg Sound.

This is a slick, professional hostel - more like a hotel really, and prices reflect this. Simple,
spotless rooms, each with toilet and TV, are based in a renovated 19th-century iron
foundry in the city centre. It's a popular conference centre in winter, and has oodles of fa-
cilities: laundry, large kitchen, garden, breakfast buffet (Dkr75) and plentiful lounge
nooks.
A double room without breakfast and linen costs Dkr600. Parking is off Nannavej.
