FALSLED KRO
Falsled Kro
INN
( 62 68 11 11; www.falsledkro.dk ; Assensvej 513, Falsled; r from Dkr2800; lunch mains Dkr175-245,
dinner four-/six-course menu Dkr825/1025)
Ten kilometres west of Faaborg is Falsled Kro, in 2014 awarded Denmark's most 'travel-
worthy' gourmet destination by the White Guiderestaurant almanac. It's a picture-per-
fect historic inn dating from 1744, sitting cosily under a thatched roof, with impeccable
decor, position, accommodation and food (oh the food - the four- or six-course menu
utilises prime locally harvested ingredients, and French techniques with Nordic twists).
A night or two here, in this coastal countryside idyll, would be entirely memorable - but
if your budget doesn't stretch that far, stop by for lunch or coffee in the cobbled, flower-
bedecked courtyard, then amble down to the small marina behind the kro. And then you'll
probably appreciate the 'fairy-tale' label that's often applied to rural Funen.
