The area around Gudhjem harbours a number of cultural riches, including the island's im-
pressive art museum, its most striking round church, and an intriguing medieval re-cre-
ation. It's also where you'll find one of Bornholm's top two restaurants.

Occupying a svelte, modern building and overlooking sea, fields and (weather permitting)
the distant isle of Christiansø, Bornholms Kunstmuseum echoes Copenhagen's Louisiana.
The museum exhibits paintings by artists from the Bornholm School, including Olaf Rude,
Oluf Høst and Edvard Weie, who painted during the first half of the 20th century. The art
museum also has works by other Danish artists, most notably paintings of Bornholm by
Skagen artist Michael Ancher.
There's a cafe on-site. Buses stop in front of the museum (bus 2 from Rønne; bus 4 or 8
between Gudhjem and Sandvig).
Østerlars Rundkirke CHURCH

The largest and most impressive of Bornholm's round churches dates back to at least from
1150, and its seven weighty buttresses and upper-level shooting gallery give away its
