provides a fine view of the town's red-tiled rooftops and out to sea.
From the hill at the southeastern end of Gudhjem harbour you'll be rewarded with a
harbour view . You can continue along this path that runs above the shoreline 1.5km
southeast to Melsted, where there's a little sandy beach . It's a delightful nature trail, with
swallows, nightingales and wildflowers.
READY, STEADY, COOK
Whet your appetite at Sol over Gudhjem , Gudhjem's famous harbourside cook-off. Taking
place on a Saturday afternoon in late June, it sees four of Denmark's hottest chefs battle
it out as they use Bornholm produce to create a tantalising two-course menu.
Competitive chefs aside, the event also features an appetising food market, with over
40 stalls showcasing the best of Danish produce and specialities, from herring to honey
and cheeses. Various competitions means you might just walk away with new kitchen
equipment, art or (better still) a free meal at one of Copenhagen's 'It' nosh spots. Best of
all, the event is free! The official cook-off usually starts at 1pm, so it's a good idea to head
in at around noon to get a good seat. After all, you'll want to taste-test the entries, right?
