lowed by the standard 1¼-hour catamaran service to Rønne on Bornholm.
TRAIN & BOAT
DSB ( www.dsb.dk ) offers a combined train/catamaran service (adult/child Dkr328/149) to
Rønne. You catch a train from Copenhagen's Central Station to Ystad in Sweden, then
connect with the catamaran to Rønne. It's also possible to drive to Ystad and cross with a
car from there. The total trip should take no more than 3½ hours.
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
The island's airport, Bornholms Lufthavn, is 5km southeast of Rønne, on the road to
Dueodde. Buses 6 and 7 connects the airport to Rønne.
BICYCLE
Bornholm is ideal for cycling, with over 230km of bike trails crisscrossing the island.
Some of the trails go over former train routes, some slice through forests, and others run
alongside main roads. You can start right in Rønne, where bike routes fan out to Allinge,
Gudhjem, Nexø, Dueodde and the Almindingen forest.
If you don't feel like pedalling the entire way, you can take your bike on public buses
for an additional Dkr24.
The tourist office in Rønne sells the 82-page English-language Bicycle Routes on
Bornholm (Dkr129), which maps out routes and describes sights along the way. It also
provides a free, simple map of cycling routes on the island.
You'll find bike rental outlets in most major towns. Bornholms Cykeludlejning (bike
rental per 1/2/7 days Dkr70/140/390; 9.30am-5.30pm Mon-Fri, 9am-noon & 2-5.30pm Sat) is the
handiest one, close to the Rønne ferry terminal and next door to the island's main tourist
office.
BUS
Bornholms Amts Trafikselskab (BAT; www.bat.dk ; pass per day adult/child Dkr150/75, per
week Dkr500/250) operates bus services on the island. Fares are based on a zone system,
with the maximum fare being for five zones. Tickets cost Dkr13 per zone, and are valid for
unlimited trips within one zone for 30 minutes. Another 15 minutes validity is added for
