Beautifully situated on the edge of Roskilde Fjord, 4km north of the Viking Ship Museum,
this three-star camping ground is family-friendly with good facilities. There's a sandy
Blue-Flag beach on the doorstep. From Roskilde train station, catch bus 203 (Dkr24).
Journey time is around 25 minutes.

First opened in 1695, the centrally located Prindsen is Denmark's oldest hotel, with former
guests including King Frederik VII and Hans Christian Andersen. Rooms are comfortable
and classically styled, with many featuring blue carpet and fleur de lis-patterned drapes.
The carpet-free Nordisk rooms (s/d Dkr1505/1605) are larger than the standard rooms, but
not really worth the extra cost. Rates often drop on weekends and public holidays.

Gimle covers all bases, from laidback cafe and cultural hub, to live-music venue and
weekend nightclub. Pull up a retro chair and munch on simple, tasty grub such as sand-
wiches, dahl, nachos and burgers (including a vegetarian version). Sunday brunch is
served from 10am to 1pm, and wi-fi is free.
