Rooms at this modern, bungalow-style hotel are pleasant and entirely unmemorable in that
Ikea-type of way. Superior rooms keep things cool with air-conditioning, and several
rooms feature handy kitchenettes. Hotel Hillerød is about 2km south of the castle.

Run by verified Italians, the Black Rooster serves proper Italian nosh made with prime in-
gredients. Dishes burst with flavour, from pizzas to mouthwatering à la carte options like
delicate spinach, ricotta and tomato crepes, decadent Gorgonzola lasagna, and meaty
mains like grilled lamb served cacciatora style. The restaurant also serves brunch Friday
to Sunday.

Right in the centre of the sloping town square, this is the place to head on a sunny after-
noon for people-watching. There's a good choice of light meals - nachos, sandwiches and
salads, as well as more substantial offerings such as steaks. The weekend brunch buffet
(10am to 1pm), however, is of a rather average quality.
