In-Depth Information
The 24-hour metro ( www.m.dk ) runs every four to 20 minutes between the airport arrival
terminal (the station is called Lufthavnen) and the eastern side of the city centre. It does
not stop at København H (Central Station) but is handy for Christianshavn and Nyhavn
(get off at Kongens Nytorv for Nyhavn). Journey time to Kongens Nytorv is 14 minutes
(Dkr36).
Taxi
By taxi, it's about 20 minutes between the airport and the city centre, depending on traffic.
Expect to pay between Dkr250 and Dkr300.
Train
Trains ( www.dsb.dk ) connect the airport arrival terminal to Copenhagen Central Station
(København H) around every 12 minutes. Journey time is 14 minutes (Dkr36). Check
schedules at www.rejseplanen.dk .
BICYCLE
Copenhagen vies with Amsterdam as the world's most bike-friendly city. Most streets have
cycle lanes and, more importantly, motorists tend to respect them.
Bikes can be carried free on S-trains, but are forbidden at Nørreport station during
weekday peak hours. Enter carriages through the middle door and keep your bike behind
the red line in the designated bicycle area. Stay with the bike at all times. Bikes can be car-
ried on the metro (except from 7am to 9am, and from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, on weekdays
from September to May). Bike tickets cost Dkr13.
SMART CITY BIKES
In 2014, Copenhagen introduced its next-generation of Bycyklen (City Bikes; bycyklen.dk ).
These high-tech 'Smart Bikes' feature touchscreen tablets with GPS, multi-speed electric
motors, puncture-resistant tyres and locks. The bikes can be rented from a handful of
docking stations dotted across the city, including at Central Station, Vesterport, Øster-
port and Dybbølsbro S-train stations, and on Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square). Available
24/7, 365 days a year, rental costs Dkr25 per hour and must be paid by credit card via the
bike's touchscreen. For further information and a full list of docking stations, visit the
Bycyklen website.
