Copenhagen is packed with a diverse range of drinking options - slinky cocktail hideouts;
rowdy, nicotine-stained
bodegas
(pubs); and everything in-between. The line between cafe,
restaurant and bar is often blurred, with many places changing role as the day progresses.
Vibrant drinking areas include Kødbyen (the 'Meatpacking District') and Istedgade in Ves-
terbro, Ravnsborggade, Elmegade and Sankt Hans Torv in Nørrebro, Nansensgade close to
Nørreport and the maze of streets to the north of Strøget, including Pilestræde, around
Gråbrødretorv and especially gay-friendly Studiestræde. And, of course, on a sunny day
there is always Nyhavn, although there can be a serious risk of encountering a Dixieland
jazz band.

drops. Adorned with modernist Danish design and friendly, clued-in staff, its string of
rooms lend the place an intimate, civilised air that's perfect for grown-up conversation. Chat

Coffee snobs weep joyfully into their nuanced espressos and Third-Wave brews at this cute,
light-filled cafe, decorated with photography tomes. Bespectacled owner Niels tends to his
brewing paraphernalia like an obsessed scientist, turning UK- and Swedish-roasted beans
into smooth, lingering cups of Joe. Whatever your poison, pair it with a Danablu Horn, a ri-
diculously delicious horn-shaped bread stuffed with blue cheese, honey and walnuts.
