Amager Strandpark BEACH

This is a sand-sational artificial lagoon to the southeast of the city centre, with acres of
beach and, during summer, a festive vibe most days with cafes and bars. Playground facil-
ities and shallow water make it ideal for kids. The beach is also home to Helgoland (
GOOGLE MAP ; www.amager-strand.dk ; non-members 10am-6pm daily late Jun-Aug) , a vintage-
inspired sea bathing complex with multiple pools open to non-members from late June to
the end of August.

An extravagant indoor swim centre with several pools, including a grand ellipse-shaped af-
fair with 100m lanes, a deep 'mountain pool' with a climbing wall, a hot-water pool and a
children's pool. If you've forgotten your togs or towels, they can be hired for Dkr25 each
(bring photo ID as a deposit). There's also a small gym on the premises.

Copenhagen's coolest outdoor pool complex sits right in the central city's main canal.
Water quality is rigorously monitored, and the lawns, BBQ facilities and eateries make it a
top spot to see and be seen on a warm summer day, whether you get wet or not. In 2014,
plans were underway for winter-friendly saunas and thermal baths, as well as a sixth pool.
