My favourite neighbourhood...
…is Islands Brygge. It used to be a working-class area, with industry along the harbour.
Now it's like the Copacabana of Copenhagen. During summer, it's packed with near-na-
ked people jumping into the harbour. The water is clean and you can swim in the centre of
the city. It's a symbol of Copenhagen and what it can do. It's free and accessible to all.
Just hanging out here in July and August is a must-do.
A perfect day in Copenhagen
…would start in my favourite park, Kongens Have. There are always loads of people
hanging out there on beautiful days. Across the street, I'd stop at Cinemateket, run by the
Danish Film Institute. They only show good-quality classics and art-house films. Further
out, I'd head to the Ny Carlsberg Vej 68 art precinct. It's home to Galleri Nicolai Wallner,
one of the coolest galleries in Copenhagen.

…are festivals such as Distortion, which turns the city into one big block party. It's getting
bigger and bigger each year and it's worth coming to Copenhagen just to experience it.
It's what I love most about the city - the best parts are the temporary parties.

Vesterbro to Frederiksberg
It is hard to imagine two more disparate neighbours than leafy, middle-class Frederiksberg
and gritty, urban Vesterbro, but both promise an intriguing handful of sights, not to men-
tion some must-try restaurants, bars and cafes.
Vesterbro begins at the western side of København H (Central Station) with the city's
most infamous thoroughfare, Istedgade. At its 'station end', the strip is Copenhagen's seedy
red light district, littered with sex shops, massage parlours, junkies, stiletto-strapped pros-
titutes and lower range hotels. Further west, Istedgade transforms into one of the city's
