CYKELSLANGEN: THE CYCLING SNAKE
Two of the Danes greatest passions - design and cycling - meet in spectacular fashion
Dissing + Weitling, the 235-metre-long cycling path evokes a slender orange ribbon, its
gently curving form contrasting dramatically against the area's block-like architecture.
The elevated path winds its way from Bryggebro (Brygge Bridge) west to Fisketorvet
Shopping Centre, weaving its way over the harbour and delivering a cycling experience
that's nothing short of whimsical. To reach the path on public transport, catch bus 30 to
Fisketorvet Shopping Centre. The best way to reach it, however, is on a bike, as Cykelslan-
gen is only accessible to cyclists.

Copenhagen has a reputation for being heavy on the budget, but many of its top sights
are free for at least one day of the week. So zip up that wallet and head to these spots, all

Nyhavn to the Little Mermaid
Built to connect Kongens Nytorv to the harbour, the canal of Nyhavn (pronouned new-
hown) was long a haunt for sailors and writers, including Hans Christian Andersen, who
lived there for most of his life at, variously, numbers 20, 18 and 67. These days Nyhavn is
