ing membrane (Whatman/Polyfitronics) i.e., FATIMA plates. In this case, there is no
need to mechanically (or enzymatically) manipulate the wells (compare with Fig. 3 ),
once the cells have being aliquoted into them. Thus, independent fluorescence detec-
tion from the top ( nontransmigrated cells ) and bottom ( transmigrated cells ) side of the
plate can efficiently be used to determine the exact percentage transmigrated cells out
of the total amount of cells introduced into the system. Moreover, kinetic studies may
readily be performed for both anchorage-dependent and suspension-growing cells
within the same well. This system is well-suited for large-scale analyses of cell migration.
