The
divalent Schiff base (aldimine) dehydro-hydroxylysinonorleucine (
-HLNL) which
subsequently reacts with histidine to give the trivalent crosslink histidinohydroxylysino-
norleucine.
(B)
The intermediate keto-imine crosslink (hydroxy-lysinoketonorleucine;
HLKNL) can react with hydroxylysine aldehyde to give hydroxylysyl-pyridinoline
(Hyl-Pyr) or with lysine aldehyde to give the hydroxylysyl-pyrrole.
