For the South Caspian region the association appears natural between
higher average geothermal gradient values in the 500-2,000 m depth
interval and the structures with gas and condensate aggregations (fields:
Karadag 2.36, Zyrya 2.04, Yuzhnaya 2.46°С/100 m). It is compared with
the adjacent traps saturated predominantly with oil (respectively: fields
Kushkhana 2.26, Kala 1.58 and Gyurgyany-More 2.22°С/100 m). This
phenomenon is caused by the specifics of the Pliocene oil accumulations'
formation mechanism in the subject areas. These specifics are in a sub-
stantially greater influx in the traps of thermal lower alkaline waters in
the accumulation of oil compared with the gas-accumulation processes
