4. Format the card using the
mkdosfs
command. You may need to run the
command as a super user (using the
sudo
command). You will pass the
-F
flag, specifying to use a FAT file system. You can include either
16
or
32
as the flag argument to choose FAT16 or FAT32. To format a card that
was mounted as /dev/mmcblk0p1, you use the command
sudo mkdosfs
-F 16 /dev/mmcblk0p1
