In-Depth Information
a general preview of how a rendering in the scene would appear. Above the list
of styles are buttons that create, purge, update, or save styles to the library for
use by others.
The dialog box has two tabs that control the properties of the scene style.
The Background Tab
This tab tells Inventor Studio what will be seen behind or around the model.
Use Application Options
Selecting the Use Application Options check box bypasses other background
options in favor of using the settings in the Application Options Color tab that
are used in your Design window.
Colors
Depending on the type of scene, you're able to click the color preview boxes and
change what colors are present in the rendering through the standard Inventor
color-selection dialog box.
Selecting one of the four types of scene quickly changes the look of the rendering:
Solid Color This option uses a single color for the background of the scene and
for the color of a plane that might pass around or through the part. When it's
activated, there is only one color selection in the Colors group.
Color Gradient In some of the renderings you've already created, the back-
ground transitions from black on the top to white at the bottom. The scene style
you selected used a Color Gradient type and used the two colors defi ned in the
Colors area. The box on top specifi es the color at the top edge of the screen, and
the lower color box is used to select the color at the bottom of the screen.
Image Clicking the Image option launches an Open dialog box where you can
select an image fi le to use as the background for the rendering scene. When an
image is selected, additional options appear in the Image group that let you
manage the appearance of the background.
Image Sphere Similar to the Image type, Image Sphere wraps an image
around the part rather than just applying an image behind the model. This
enables the refl ection of a different part of the environment on the front of the
model than is shown behind the model. To use this option, I think it's necessary
to use a spherical or hemispherical image. Resources are available on the Web
for this type of image. Later in the chapter, you'll learn another technique that
can simulate the result.
