Building the Hub
In reality, you're going to build only a portion of the fan blade. Then, you'll pat-
tern that portion to make the complete blade. This saves time, but it's also bet-
ter practice because it allows for simplicity and consistency.
Let's also start testing your retention a little by giving you fewer instructions
for how to do things. It's OK to go back and look things up. I think it's impor-
tant for you to fi ll in the gaps, though, to really learn these tools:
1. Create a new sketch on the origin YZ plane.
2. Using techniques you've already used in previous exercises, create
the sketch and dimensions shown in Figure 8.38. Start the vertical
centerline at the sketch centerpoint.
FIGURE 8.38 Set the vertical line to be a centerline, to get the linear
diameter dimensions.
3. Return to the home view.
4. Start the Revolve tool.
5. Set Extents to Angle.
6. Set Angle to 90 and the solution to be from the Middle. Compare your
preview to Figure 8.39.
7. Click OK to create the new feature.
8. Add a 0.3-inch fi llet to the top of the hub, as shown in Figure 8.40.
Click OK to place the fi llet.
