FIGURE 8.27 Creating a series of surfaces using Extrude
10. Save the new fi le as Fan Blade in the Parts folder.
For the next step, I'll refer to the surface faces based on the face of
the ViewCube that lets me look directly at them. I'll do my best to
keep the images clear; but if I refer to the top face, use the ViewCube
as a safety check.
You'll also place sketches on the faces based on the home view
rather that rotating the part to get views external to the surface.
11. Create a sketch on the bottom surface.
12. Using a Construction linetype, project the edges that intersect with
the left and right surfaces into the sketch.
13. Using a Construction linetype, draw a line from the right edge out-
ward and perpendicular to the projected line.
14. Dimension the line's position as shown in Figure 8.28.
15. Switching to the Normal linetype, draw a tangent arc using the Line
tool from the dimensioned line to the opposite projected line.
Dimension it as shown in Figure 8.29.
16. Finish the sketch.
17. Start a new sketch on the top surface, and replicate the last steps
with the different dimension values shown in Figure 8.30.
