program automatically or selected from the pull-down list. Not all conditions
are available for all sections:
Free Condition This is typical of using open sketches and offers no additional
control or capability. It just takes the shape the way it is.
Direction Using this condition, you can control the angle at which the loft
transitions from the sketch plane. This is available only for a sketched section.
Tangent This option allows you to guide the lofted surface based on an existing
surface or face that is adjacent to the selected section sketch or selected face edges.
Smooth The Smooth option is similar to Tangent but is enhanced by focusing
on the overall curvature of the original and resulting faces to maintain continu-
ous curvature.
Sharp Point This option allows you to loft from a loop (open or closed) to a
single point.
Tangent (to Point) When transitioning from a loop to a point, you can add cur-
vature to the surface by bringing the surface tangent to the sketch plane of the
point.
Tangent to Plane This option is similar to Tangent but also offers the ability to
specify what plane the surface is tangent to as it approaches the point.
As you use some of these options, you may be presented with prompts for
additional modifi cation:
Angle When using the Direction condition, you can specify the angle that the
shape begins to transition along as it moves to the next curve.
Weight Use this value to control how quickly the shape of one section begins
to transition to the shape of another. This value is referred to as unitless , mean-
ing it's an arbitrary value that you can change until the effect is appropriate.
