In-Depth Information
4. Start the Distance measurement tool from the Measure panel on the
Inspect tab.
Selection fi lters are available for working in the assembly, and the
Measure Distance tool has fi lters too. The default is geared toward
selecting edges and faces. This is completely logical because that is
the most common query people use. There is a fi lter for Component
Priority that, like its assembly counterpart, looks at the bigger pic-
ture of selecting an entire subassembly as a single item. Because the
pulley is a member of the V-belt component, you need to use the Part
Priority, which looks through the assembly structure and allows you
to pick parts directly.
5. From the Filters pull-down in the Distance Measurement dialog,
select Part Priority.
6. Pick the pulley and then the duct. The Minimum Distance and In
Depth values appear in the dialog, along with a display of where that
distance is. See Figure 7.45.

7. Press the Esc key to end the Measure tool.
