30. Click the check mark to see the change, as shown in Figure 6.56.
FIGURE 6.56 Handle_Height changes if you change the floor clearance.
31. Restore the clearance to .08in., and click the check mark to update.
32. Click the Finish Sketch tool to leave the sketching environment.
33. Save the fi le.
The entire purpose of creating the sketch was to model the height at which
your handle needs to be mounted from the bottom of the housing so that when
you pick it up, the handle is at the height you want. You can use your digital
model to evaluate the options. Giving the housing a 1.5in. clearance from the
fl oor when moved places the handle at an uncomfortably low position for pick-
ing it up.
Now that you've made your evaluation, you can reuse the information in the
context of your assembly.
Using the Named Parameter
Let's use the Handle_Height parameter from your sketch to set the height of the
machined handle in the assembly:
1. In the fan assembly, locate Sketch1 below the Origin folder in the
Browser, and turn off its visibility.
2. Use the Place tool to add one instance of the machined handle to the
assembly.
