select additional edges by changing Select Mode to Edge. A display shows how
many edges are selected as you go. Choosing the Feature option selects all the
edges of a specifi c feature. If you've created an extrusion with a large number of
edges, you can select them all by switching to Feature mode.
With cast or plastic parts, you may not want any sharp edges. The All Fillets
and All Rounds options do as they say and select every sharp edge that is exter-
nal for all fi llets and every sharp edge that is internal for all rounds.
Variable Tab This tab allows you to place a fi llet or round that changes size as
it moves along the edge. You can reference points along the edge to defi ne a dif-
ferent radius between the beginning and end. You can do this after you've selected
the edge on which you want to place the feature by moving your cursor to the
end and clicking where you want to add another radius.
Setbacks Tab The options on this tab add additional control to the shape of a
corner where several fi llets meet. This lets you soften the corner to a larger radius
than is used on the edges.
Face Fillet
This method has only one group of options. You can override whether the fi llet
includes faces that are tangent to the ones you selected to build the fi llet between.
Optimize for Single Selection allows you to select your two faces quickly. If
this option is deselected, you can build a collection of faces for Face Set 1 and
another individual face or collection of faces for Face Set 2 to build a complex
fi llet feature. This type of fi llet also needs a radius specifi ed, but you can only
place a fi llet with one radius.
Full Round
This fi llet type calculates the only radius it can use based on the geometry you
select. You have the Optimize for Single Selection option as well as the Include
Tangent Faces option.
These additional options appear in the Fillet dialog box:
Solid This option enables you to pick the body or bodies to apply the fi llets to.
The icon with the eyeglasses next to the check box allows you to disable a pre-
view of the Fillet feature if the performance of your system is suffering.
You can fi nd four other options by clicking the More button and expanding
the dialog box. These options affect how the fi llet or round is generated:
Roll Along Sharp Edges When this option is selected, Inventor varies the fi llet
radius in order to maintain a sharp edge corner where it intersects. If this
