this case, if you had another switch with the same iMates, you could simply
replace this on with it and never have to manually apply assembly constraints.
Next, you'll build a part that will be used by other parts. This is the same phi-
losophy of reuse that we explored by working with iMates.
Creating a Cast Part
To create the cast part, you'll use traditional solid-modeling tools. We'll include
some new tools that you haven't had an opportunity to work with yet, to add
another level to your expertise.
Defining the Basic Shape
In this exercise you will build a part using traditional solid modeling techniques.
1. Create a new part from the Standard (in).ipt template.
2. Use the Rectangle tool, and use the sketch centerpoint as the upper-
left corner of the rectangle shown in Figure 6.4.

3. Start another rectangle, and draw it vertically from the endpoint of
the last one. See Figure 6.5.
4. Start the Line tool, and pick the bottom-left corner of the fi rst rectangle
to begin a vertical line (Figure 6.6) that goes down roughly .3 inches.
