To keep the change, you also have to right-click and select Done:
Done You must use this option to accept any change made in the 3D grips and
then update the model.
Commit and Move This additional option allows you to accept the current size
or edits to the size, but then lets you reposition the feature and even move it to
another face on the part, including a curved face.
Edit Extent To modify the overall value for the feature, you use this option.
Edit Offset This option allows you to change the value from its current setting.
Entering a negative value also works to decrease a size.
Now that you have a better understanding of the 3D Grip options; you will get
to use them.
3. Move your cursor near the center of the end face where you selected
the 3D grip. An arrow appears, allowing you to drag the face.
4. Click and drag the face, and observe the 6.500 dimension change to
a driven dimension and change value while you drag it. When you
release the mouse button, the dimension reverts to a parametric
dimension.
5. Right-click the same arrow, select Edit Offset, and enter any value.
6. Click OK. The model updates, and the value of the dimension that was
originally 6.500 incorporates the Offset value that you added to it.
7. Double-click the dimension that was originally 6.500, and change the
value to 5.5 .
8. Click OK to update the 3D grip preview.
9. Right-click in an open area of the Design window, and choose Done
from the context menu to save the change.
10. On the Model tab, pick the Return tool to leave the part and return to
the assembly. See Figure 5.34.
11. Right-click the frame envelope component in the Browser, and select
Suppress from the menu.
