Adding Flanges to the Part
For this exercise, I considered having you add the fl anges one at time. But the
spirit of this topic is to use a design-oriented approach, so instead you'll use the
tools that add effi ciency to the process. We'll also take a look at a few other
options along the way.
In some of the images, you'll notice that I have turned on the edges of the
active part in the Application options. This can make it easier to sort out edges
on a sheet metal part. Follow these steps:
1. In the Browser right-click the icon next to Housing.ipt, and select
iProperties from the Context menu.
2. Doing so brings up the fi le properties for this component. Select the
Physical tab (Figure 2.29), and click the Update button to see the
physical properties of the part as it currently is, including the mass.
Click the Close button when you're fi nished reviewing the values.
